Terms of Use
Last updated: 1 October 2026
1. The agreement
These terms, together with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), govern your use of the CalWiz app and CalWiz Pro. CalWiz is published by Anas Alradhwan, an individual developer based in the State of Kuwait, who is the seller shown on its App Store page (“we”, “us”). By using CalWiz you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data.
CalWiz is for people 18 and over only. By using it, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
2. What CalWiz does, and what it doesn't
CalWiz uses artificial intelligence to estimate the foods, portions, calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat in a photo of your meal or a meal you describe in words, looks up packaged foods by barcode and food search, reads nutrition labels on your phone, and helps you track your intake, water and fasts against daily goals. All values are estimates. Portion sizes, hidden ingredients such as oil, butter or sugar, and mixed dishes are hard to judge from a photo, so results can be wrong. You can correct any portion before you log it. For packaged food, the nutrition label is the better source.
3. Health and safety
CalWiz is for general wellness only. It is not medical or nutritional advice and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.
- Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before changing your diet, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical condition such as diabetes or kidney disease, take medication, or have or have had an eating disorder.
- Never use CalWiz's estimates to decide a dose of insulin or any other medicine.
- CalWiz can't detect allergens or ingredients it can't see. Don't rely on it if you have a food allergy or intolerance.
- Daily targets are general estimates based on the details you enter, not a prescription.
4. CalWiz Pro subscriptions
- Plans. CalWiz Pro is offered as a yearly subscription at US$29.99 a year, with a 3-day free trial when you are eligible, and as a monthly subscription at US$9.99 a month. In other countries, the price is shown in the app in your local currency before you buy and may differ.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase or, with a free trial, when the trial ends.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Free trial. Apple decides trial eligibility. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. You can also tap Manage subscription in the app's Me tab. After you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com).
- Restore. If you reinstall CalWiz or change phones, tap Restore purchases on the paywall or in the Me tab.
5. Free scans and fair use
The free version includes 3 AI meal scans. Describing a meal in words, typed or spoken, uses the AI too and counts as one scan. A scan that doesn't return a result (for example, when no food is found or the service is busy) isn't counted. Barcode lookups, nutrition-label scans, food search and manual logging are always free. CalWiz Pro includes fair-use limits of 20 AI scans an hour and 60 a day, which keep the service fast and prevent abuse. Normal use doesn't reach them.
6. Your photos
Only scan photos you have the right to use. When you scan a photo or describe a meal, you allow us and our AI provider, Google, to process it to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We don't keep your photos on our servers. Please photograph only your food: no people, documents or anything private.
7. Acceptable use
Please use CalWiz lawfully and fairly. You may not:
- upload unlawful, harmful or infringing content;
- copy, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- use bots, scripts or other automated or bulk access, or try to get around scan limits, the paywall or security checks;
- use CalWiz or its results to build or train a competing service, or resell them.
8. Third-party data
Barcode and food search data come from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License (ODbL); its product images are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike. Food search also uses USDA FoodData Central (U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service; public domain). The sample meals use photos and weights from Nutrition5k by Google Research (CC BY 4.0). This data may be incomplete or wrong; check the label when it matters.
9. Changes to the app and these terms
We keep improving CalWiz, so features may change. The service may occasionally be unavailable. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version.
10. Disclaimers and liability
CalWiz is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions about your diet, health or medication made on the basis of the app's estimates. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.
11. Ending
You can stop using CalWiz at any time and delete your data in the app's Me tab (Delete my data). We may suspend access in cases of abuse or a breach of these terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kuwait, and the courts of Kuwait have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and nothing in these terms takes those rights away.
